Who we are
Cypher Works Limited is the controller for the personal data described here. We’re registered in England and Wales, company number 15883068, with our registered office at The Old Bakery, 90 Camden Road, Tunbridge Wells, England, TN1 2QP. For anything about your data, email hello@cypherworks.co.uk.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through the contact form we receive your name, email address, organisation (if you give one) and message. If you email us directly we receive whatever you include in the email.
Like any web server, ours records each request: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the request details your browser sends, such as its user agent. To limit abuse of the contact form, its service also holds the IP address of each sender in memory for one hour. That copy is never written to disk.
Why we use it
We use enquiry details only to reply to you and, if you ask us to, to discuss or prepare work with you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, or, where you’re asking about an engagement, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Server logs are used only to keep the site secure and running. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its visitors.
We don’t sell your data, use it for marketing, or add you to any mailing list.
Who else handles it
The site and its server logs are hosted by a UK hosting provider. Enquiries are delivered to our mailbox by our email provider, which may process them outside the UK with appropriate safeguards under its data processing terms. Both act only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
We delete enquiries 2 years after our last contact with you, unless the enquiry leads to work, in which case it’s kept with the records for that contract. Server logs are rotated automatically and old entries are overwritten as new ones are written.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, to object to our using it, or to have it sent to you or someone else in a portable format. Email hello@cypherworks.co.uk and we’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
